*When infused: 266 physical dmg/266 elemental dmg and B scaling with chosen element. Str scaling changes to B.
Gyrm Axe is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
An axe used by the nomadic Gyrm.
At first glance this axe appears crude, but with further examination one sees the fine craftsmanship of Gyrm blacksmiths. Quite heavy for a human, but flung about with reckless abandon by the Gyrm.
Acquired From
- Doors of Pharros Treasure: Found on a corpse in the left side of the staircase in the first area.
- Dropped by Gyrm Warrior enemies in the Doors of Pharros area.
Hints and Tips:
- Upgraded with regular Titanite to +10.
- This axe attacks differently than other axes. While most axes attack with sideways strikes, the Gyrm is swung from over the shoulder as part of a tackle, slamming the axe into the ground. The strong attack is a big overhand swing as normal.
- This axe acts as like a Greataxe rather than normal axe. When powerstanced it applies a powerstanced greataxe moveset.
- As the weapon's description hints, players should treat this axe as though they were wielding a Great weapon. Like most Great weapons, the axe has the tendency to swing where the character is facing at that moment, which could miss the enemy despite having lock-on.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

For those wondering why you'd take this over Drakekeeper's axe; Gyrm Axe consumes less stamina per swing & cost 8 less points of dexterity, which is quite a bit. The trade-off is it weighs 2 units more & the Running R1 attack has zero tracking (which I still think is a bug to this day considering Backstep R1 tracks as normal).
Attack & Scaling is identical, & range is less of an issue as long as you 1-Hand it, which is arguably the best way to wield all Greataxes anyway. Besides, doesn't this thing look cool?

theres literally no reason why this is called a standard axe... greataxe moveset, on the heavier side, doesn't even have the fast parry and fast backstab animations
An axe with the weight of greataxe... Use drakekeepere greataxe instead. Has 2 less weight, better reach, same moveset and if you tap secondary 2 times it does a spin combo.

Want to get a second one for power standing before using ascetics or going to NG+ any idea how to get one?

The damage is good but it's slow and the Greatsword has a better moveset, it has more reach, and both have no tracking so you can't kite enemies properly. In sum, for an Axe the Bandit Axe is good enough, for a long reach high damage weapon I would choose a Greatsword.

I remember it got a normal axe moveset when powerstanced on the lefthand, it seems its not so anymore, what a shame

Does this weapon really drop from Gyrm Warriors? Been at it for awhile with Max item find and no luck.

This weapon is fucking amazing it has great scaling high base damage and is easily upgraded it destroys everything it touches the only downside the weight and swing speed
- Anonymous
I love it's damage. Hate the tendency to swing where the character is facing at that moment, which could miss the enemy despite having lock-on.

If you get Gavlan to the Doors of Pharros by talking to him he will give you a Gyrm Axe if you purchase enough stuff from him.
So it's an Axe, but it handles more like a Greataxe, but is smaller and weaker but lighter than weapons in the greataxe weapon class, wouldn't that make it... A Prettygoodaxe?!
