Heide Greatlance is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
"A lance originating in Heide. A special alloy makes it very durable. The tip of the lance has been extended.
The composition of the alloy of these lances remains a mystery, but in Drangleic the attempt to imitate it resulted in the similar bradden steel.
Lances are normally wielded by mounted knights and it takes considerable training to handle one on the ground."
Acquired From
- Rare Heide Knight drop from the Shrine of Winter.
- Knight can be respawned by using Bonfire Ascetic on Ruined Fork Road Bonfire in Shaded Woods, first bonfire in the Bastille and Forest.
- Scholar of the first sin : Dropped from a Heide Knight in the Gutter, on NG+ only or after using a Bonfire Ascetic, the one that drops the regular lance on NG. You can find him to the left of the ladder which brings you to the yodel which brings you to the second bonfire, close to the chest with the Pyromancer set. 100% unless one of rare drops kicks in.
Hints and Tips:
- Infuse with Lightning to acquire B scaling on Faith, making it an extremely devastating faith based weapon, combined with its light weight.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.
Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

On the wikidot (the more reliable) wiki they say that you SHOULD NOT wear any discovery item to farm it because having mroe discovery will give your more chance to get armor pieces instead
Tbh just reading your comments made me gave up on it, not wanna waste so much time just for a lance i don't even really need, and i checked with an AR calculator, for my current build (40 STR, 25 DEX, 6 FTH) the maxed Heide Greatlance only has 10 more damage than regular heide lance so i'll stick with regular

Can't you just ascetic once then join champion covenant to repeatedly kill it rather then waste multiple ascetics?
- Anonymous
It upgrades with regular titanite unlike the heide lance but much harder to get

"100% unless one of rare drops kicks in."
Yea, and your mom is 100% fatter than smough unless she isnt
- Anonymous
Remember kids, if you are on ps4, you can create a save file and save it to your PSN cloud. So you can kill the knight and keep reloading it to try to get the lance, and not have to use ascetics.

Tried to get this damn weapon for thr longest time. Used the advice of not wearing any item discovery gear. Went all the way up to 13 bonfire aesthitics for the gutter but still nothing. Had gotten atleast 2 of each ar.our piece. Then I finally gave up and equipped the dragon shield and covetous ring rags and rusted coin and what do you know I finally got the item. Not that much different from heide lance at 40 faith and 40 strength for lvl 150 pvp.

Took me 18 kills to get it with zero item discovery, I think the 100% drop rate unless one of his rare drops kicks in is BS and he just has a random chance of dropping one of his equipment piece equally
- Anonymous
Takes 20 STR/ 16 DEX to wield this. Unsure why the wiki states it needs 22 DEX.

The master of luck builds is the guy who get's this first try in Original DS2

PS4 SotFS: Confirmed drop on a regular NG cycle at bonfire intensity 2, using only the one ascetic.
(no item discovery gear worn)

In SotFS, the Heide Knight that drops it is close to a chest that contains the Aurous set. Why is this stupid wiki mentioning the pyromancer set (that doesn't even exist as a registered set in-game)

I just killed The Gutter heide knight in ng+ and he gave me his “rare” gauntlets. It appears I’m only lucky when it makes me unlucky -__-

Can someone trade me one

I infused this Weapon with Lightning. It does pretty decent Dmg and I really like the Greatlances. But is the another worthy Greatlance? I like the look of the Executioners Lance but it can't be infused. Should I stick to this one with Lightning infusion or should I try another Lance / infusion or infused Lance in general? I don't have any Level limit so scaling is no problem for me. Can't play online, just want to have fun with the game.

Thanks from... I just got the Gloves instead... Now I have to use an ascetic for this weapon.
- Anonymous
it should be noted that it's upgraded using regular titanite

In Scholar does the greatlance drop form the gutter heide knight with a bonfire intensity of 2 or higher, or do you have to be in true NG+?
- Anonymous
The req and stats are completely wrong, it requires 20 str and 16 dex and has innate lightning damage
- Anonymous
Popped an ascetic just to get this sucker... And he lunges off of a ledge so I don't get it.

Less physical damage and durability than a normal lance. Seems legit.

the ggreat lance deals LESS lightning damage than the other heide lance when infused and that is wit scaling 55 faith. if scaling make sunlight blade deal more damage I am using great lance but it is not like that so I use other lance. when using sunlight blade then use heide lance, if other buff or no buff use regular grand lance. great heide lance deal fysical dmg more than heide great lance but less than grand lance, and because of split dmg it not worth.
heide lance for sunlight blade, grand lance for other stuff, great lance suck.
- Anonymous
Depending on stats, this lance deals anything from 5-50 dmg more than the regular heide lance, for the cost of a few pixels shorter and 2 more in weight. If the Greatlance could use pine resin THEN it would be worth it, since the player wouldn't need the stat investment in faith for Sunlight Blade, but since that isn't the case, it really isn't all that much better than the regular lance. Alhough, the regular one uses Twinkling Titanite, while the Greatlance uses regular titante - if that is a concern, and you want to use Twinkling for other stuff, then getting the Greatlance might be worth it.
- Anonymous
Not worth it. A little smaller than heide lance. I got it at Bonfire 4+.
- Anonymous
Okay, this is just stupid. i killed it like 5 times already and rare drops always kicked in, WTF

Description of location is the quite weird... second bonfire, which one? central gutter?... what is the real name of pyromancer set?... wtf is yodel?. Overall I found only 1 Heide knight in the gutter, he uses spear and he didnt drop any lances in 3 kills on ng+. Also he doesnt respawn without ascetic.
Infuse with Dark, Dark scales with INT/FTH so go 50/50 on both skills, you now have B scaling on Lighting and Dark AND you get thrusting counter damage(extra damage after enemy attacks) AND you can make it stronger with Leo ring. Everything is weak to Thrusting, Lighting, and Dark in DS2. GG you win.
