Greatshields | Strike / Spell parry | ||
Enchantable: Yes/No |
No Special |
King's Mirror is a GreatShield in Dark Souls 2. Greatshields can be used not only to block an enemy but allows player to do shield bash. (Great shields replaced parry ability with heavy shield bash)
A greatshield created from the soul of the Looking Glass Knight.
Can deflect spells.
The Looking Glass at the castle is said to have been passage to another world.
Acquired From:
- Obtain the Looking Glass Knight Soul and trade it to Weaponsmith Ornifex for 3,000 souls.
Hints and Tips:
- Upgraded with Petrified Dragon Bone
- Since the spell parry times were buffed, the spell parry frames for this shield are now the highest of any. Essentially, the parry frames last from the time the shield is brought up to it slamming down. ( Tested with Crystal Souls Spear, Dark Orb and Hail, Climax, Soul Spear Barrage, and various pyromancies)
- Note that spells are only getting reflected while parrying, simply raising the shield will not reflect spells.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Literally the worst shield in all of Soulsborne. Poor absorption for a greatshield, the spell parry is very sluggish, and when you do get the parry, it just shoots the magic into the damn ground. Completely pointless and not worth it unless you're in it for the cosplay
- Anonymous
I just tried it in shrine of amana. Sure the spell deflect starts as soon as the shield goes up till the end of the bash. Still, it puts you in a vulnerable state and block reduction is inferior to many greatshields.
But really cool looking though.
- Anonymous
so it only reflects spells on the tail end of its shield bash. thats worthless considering how damn slow that shield bash is
- Anonymous
Such a shame that it didn't make it into DS3, but the shield of want did. Don't get me wrong, the SOW is fine, but this could've had such a unique shield bash weapon art, missed opportunity.

To the people complainning about it not being 100%:
We dont have any experience with the shield itself, the glaaa knight obviouslly will know using it better then a random undead who just took it.

Not even 100% physical block? For the shield that makes the boss literally invincible, regardless of whether it's actively held up or not? come on From
only blocks 95.6% of physical damage? 4.4% is very little, but not blocking 100% seems kinda dumb, all things considered.

This is one of the most unique ideas executed extremely well in the series, sad it never made it's way to DS3. Rest in best great shield

Ah, Shrine of Amana...just ****ing did this once again.....and HATED IT

Excellent shield for Shrine of Amana, where you'll find a bunch of casters.
You can say what you want about Elden Ring and its PvP, but it at least managed to create a strong successor to this with the Erdtree Greatshield.
