Gyrm Greatshield is a GreatShield in Dark Souls 2. Greatshields can be used not only to block an enemy but allows player to do shield bash. (Great shields replaced parry ability with heavy shield bash)
Acquired From:
- Random drop off of Gyrm warriors in Doors of Pharros
Hints and Tips:
- Upgrades with titanite shards/chunks/slab. Monstrous stability and the default 100% Physical and Fire damage reduction make this a very, very powerful shield - in particular when dealing with dragons.
- Useful on negating the artilleries in Memory of Jeigh before fighting against Giant Lord, and also useful against Fire Salamander and Desert Sorceress
- Use this shield for the Ancient Dragon. if you position yourself far away when he fire breaths it wil hit your shield twice. This makes the fight much easier.
- Extremely useful against Sinh, The Slumbering Dragon because it completely blocks his flame except its toxin, also you mostly won't be knocked down by his flame if you raised this shield.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

I think it's worth noting this thing is a suprisingly powerful weapon if you 2-hand it, it destroys enemies vulnerable to strike damage in particular, and the 2-handed jumping attack can be devastating and can pancake most people, Don't underestimate its power as an offensive tool

Smelter demon, ancient dragon, fume knight, etc... hates this shield.
I noticed something. The shield isn't held upside down... it's offset to be too low. Because the Gyrms are shorter than the PC.

Why the **** does the player hold this shield upside-down? It wouldn't look nearly as ass if it were oriented properly.
- Anonymous
This shield is literally the crest of the Rat King's covenant.
Since the Gyrms wear it proudly while being peaceful towards the Rat King's servants, one can easily deduce that the Gyrms have formed an alliance with the rats to defend themselves against those humans, "poisoned by sunlight".

It is simply the best shield for Dragon fights, Smelter Demon and Dark Lurker to exist. However due to the high weight Drangleic Shield will be more potent in any other encounter. If you can bare the weight, the uglyness and the terrible other resistance for it ...... well even than do not use it all the time XD

Anyone else notice the writing on it? It's faint, but there's definitely script on the front of this shield.

Surprised it doesn't mention the aimbot jumping attack, that even after the nerf can and will do a mid-air J turn just to make sure they get smashed. It is my favoritte thing about this weap-I mean shield.

Possibly the best greatshield for stats, but it looks just plain AWFUL
This shield is suprisingly deadly as an offensive weapon if you make use of its jump attacks as they have insane tracking meaning to can pull off some godly rollcatching with them, and it does very high damage and pancakes most people, even heavy Havel builds often get flattened by it, and it does some of the highest damage of any Greatshield when used this way
