Estoc is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.

A large thrusting sword with a blade. The sturdy, slender long blade is designed to pierce the armor of enemies, and its strong attack can even inflict damage upon foes hiding behind shields.

Though primarily a thrusting sword, its blade can also be used to slash your enemy.

Hints and Tips

  • Upgraded with regular Titanite to +10.
  • Curiously, when dual-wielded with the Broken Straight Sword (Broken Straight Sword in the left hand), L1 attacks cost just as much stamina as R1 attacks, but with the additional damage bonus.
  • This is the only thrusting sword that scales better with STR than DEX.
  • When infused, the strength scaling of this weapon will remain a C in most cases while DEX-scaling will drop to E.
  • The Estoc's strong attack slash can be executed almost immediately following a normal attack with a thrusting sword in the opposite hand. Very flexible weapon for early-mid game melee builds.
  • You can attack while blocking with thrusting swords, but it isn't recommended doing this in PvP. These attacks cost much more stamina, have less range, awkward aiming and unfortunately, you will use this attack accidentally a lot (because you also do this attack 'just after' blocking).

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

I really hated Ds2 SOTF before i met this beautiful Girl, it was love at first sight, he was saving me from quitting. - J.W. Goethe

love the obscure fidelity to IRL swords in DS2 that only medieval junkies can spot, being the estoc a weapon that requires strength and the two handed sword lowered stance

I don't agree that the Estoc should be mainly a strength weapon, if anything it should be a quality one. In these games piercing is associated with precision = dexterity.

Being realistic of course a lot of weapons would scale best with strength, and it doesn't make much sense that something like the Murakumo has much higher DEX than STR scaling, but the game clearly associates certain weapon categories with either strength or DEX and I find it off putting that in DS2 some random weapons have reversed scaling for their category; sure, it does allow for more build variety but it's very counter intuitive and goes against the idea of Strength = slow and hard hitting, Dexterity = weaker but faster.

The Estoc being a strength weapon makes a lot of sense when you consider what they're supposed to be like, since historically Estocs were big weighty thrusting blades made to pierce through plate armor, so suffice to say of all the thrusting swords to be strength-scaling, it's proly the most fitting one for that role

At first I thought that it was stupid that they made this a Strength weapon, then I started using it on my Strength build and immediately took that back. This gives Strength builds a small, lightweight and fast attacking weapon to accompany the larger and slower weapons often associated with a Strength build. This is an amazing sidearm for a Strength build with it's light weight, fast attack speed and respectable damage.

So my dad is currently playing his first dark souls run. He saw me play these games for almost 2 years now and he thought DS2 looked amazing. So he tried it by himself. He likes Rapiers IRL and the Estoc seemed kinda fitting for him. I think DS2 may be not the best game to start in the DS Trillogy because of its mechanics. (Adp, Human Effegy etc.) But it's nice to see him try it. I wish him the best of luck.

This gotta to be one of the most underrated weapons on DS2 , with the right build this thing can be a monster ! With 45 in DEX and the Flynn's Ring and the Ring of Blades +2 you can deal 400 of damage that is insane for a weapon that is so fast , in a meter of 2 seconds with 3 hits you deal 1200 of damage.

Infused one with Fire and upgraded it to +5 with the intention of using it as a backup to my Heide sword. While it's a good weapon to punish enemies after a block (f.e, falconers), the moveset is very unreliable when locked on. Good stats, not so good moveset imo.

                    • Estocs can drop from Fores Grotesques (just experienced that myself) and I recalled that the wiki entry doens't list that. For some reason I can't edit the page myself and Estoc is already in the lost of potential drops from Forest Grotesques; if anyone else can make that edit please add that estocs can drop from Forest Grotesques on this page.
