Chaos Rapier is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
Rapier of darkness and chaos.
Navlaan claims to have sealed himself away to prevent tragedy, but could a sorcery truly possess a will of its own? Truth can be elusive, and the tales surrounding him are questionable. Only, it is clear a strange power possess this sword.
Scholar of the First Sin changed to:
Rapier of darkness and chaos.
Once, a brilliant young sorcerer cast away his earthly desires, devoting himself entirely to the Dark that bewitched him.
Nebulous, inky and serene, the Dark hold an allure matched only by the fear it strikes in men's hearts. Could it be nature, holding a mirror to mankind?
Acquired From
- Drops from the caged Enhanced Undead in Aldia's Keep.
- SOFS: Now sold by Felkin The Outcast for 7500 souls.
Hints and Tips:
- Upgraded with Twinkling Titanite to +5
- 1-handed strong attack is replaced with a parry animation, useful for power-stancing rapiers.
- This weapon can be dropped from the singular Mutant Hound in the Cage making it an easy way to farm for this weapon from the Ritual Site bonfire.
- This was intended to be a weapon for Felkin the Outcast in concept art, instead of Navlaan.
- It is probably best to not infuse this weapon, and leave it untouched. When infusing it with fire, the weapon sees a minimal boost in the base fire damage, with a drastic decrease in physical damage. When infused with bleed, the weapon oddly acquires an S rating in fire scaling, however the actual scaling is practically the same, and all base damages were already decreased, leaving you with something that's not better than it was before.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.

This weapon's true appeal only comes out when you understand how resins vs buffs work. Leave it uninfuse gain full benefit from ring of blades and scaling AND buff with charcoal resin to recieve a great damage boost. Works much better than flame weapon.

I prefer my dark spider's silk for my hexer, but I like using chaos rapier sometimes for the parry. Also great for if someone is resistant to dark. It's best left not infused. Also, if you don't have old leo ring equipped, you're doing rapiers wrong and missing out on a ton of extra damage.
This weapon is actually a pretty good auxiliary weapon on a hexer. With high Int/Faith, fire infusion, and the fire clutch ring, you can get about 300 fire damage on it (plus like 120 physical). Like all rapiers, you can use Old Leo Ring to further boost the damage, and Flynn's Ring will add 50 physical damage regardless of the infusion. My final AR on it was 445 and my dex is only 16. I used Flame Weapon on it to really make use of that high fire damage.
The counter rating is 140, further making this weapon deceptively powerful. It also only weighs 1.5 units, drains very little stamina per hit, and can strike very quickly. The R2 parry also pairs very well with Sanctum Shield or Disc Chime or even with a staff in the offhand (since they have no parry).
I had a bunch of Twinkling Titanite left over in the last DLC so I fully upgraded it solely to fight the reindeer with fire damage. But now that I've seen what it can do I'm sure I'll be using it in certain places in NG+2. I was able to kill the reindeer very quickly with this thing. If I dodged an attack I was able to shred like 2/3 of its HP before its next attack.
Only warning to people is that there are a lot of fire-resistant enemies in certain areas, and several water areas, so you'll need another weapon. It won't carry you through the entire game. But anything weak to fire is going to be absolutely eviscerated by this thing.

Is it very good? No. Do i still use it for my pyro character because it looks slick? Possibly
Don't get this weapon as a pyro or infuse it, It's outclassed by Fire infused Rapier or Espada Ropera fire infused. Still good for range
