Ice Rapier is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
Rapiers wielded by sorcerers of Eleum Loyce, imbued with a magic that is released with a strong attack.
A great protective wall was erected to protect Eleum Loyce from the encroaching chaos, and these sorcerers were amongst its defenders.
Acquired From
- DLC: Crown of the Ivory King
- Dropped by Rampart Soldier.
Hints and Tips
- Upgraded with Twinkling Titanite to +5.
- Strong attacks unleash a bolt of ice, similar to a Soul Spear. Hitting an opponent at point blank will cause significantly more damage as you are also hitting with the weapon itself.
- Strong attack can be parried if within range but the ice bolt can still damage the person parrying, it also neglects spell parry with the exception of Repel.
- Loses very little physical damage upon elemental infusion and has the highest character sheet AR of any rapier, at the cost of losing the scaling.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Its been a year and a couple of months since Elden ring released and I ONLY JUST REALIZED that this is the Predecessor to The Frozen Needle , heavy attack and all

I did testing myself! Magic Infusion buffs the Special R2 Projectile from 376 to 542! Crystal Magic Weapon allows the R2 to do 643! Every other infusion does the same exact damage as an unenchanted Ice Rapier for the Special R2 Projectile, 376. It will do more damage after an enemy attacks thanks to its counter damage and the Old Leo ring! Not bad for a generic weapon you find off a mob lol

Does Magic or Enchanted infusion do more damage with the Projectile Heavy attack?

Was doing a dex build with coc on from start, using drakeblood gs. When i got to the dlc, got 2 of these in the first area. Is the game trying to tell me something?

Testing the projectile damage with 40 Strength, 30 Dex, 30 Int, on NG+ (Bonfire Intensity 2), Company of Champions, vs the rats in Grave of Saints:
Ice Rapier +0, Lightning Ice Rapier +5 both did the same damage; 206
Magic Ice Rapier +0 did 273.
Magic Ice Rapier +0 with Crystal Magic Weapon did 315.

does this buff with crystal weapon? and does that increase the projectile damage? if so, then this is stupidly op for a mage!

Kind of ambiguous in the description above - but the special attack is a magic projectile and infusing with magic will cause the damage of the projectile to increase. However, the damage of the projectile does not seem to be particularly affected by the actual level of the users intelligence (tested at 1 intelligence and 99 intelligence, each +0 rapier shot did roughly half of the health of the Scythe wielding jailers in the Lost Bastille). Damage also seems to be unaffected by dex scaling of the weapon as well, using similar test from above. Damage is increased slightly by magic clutch ring (~20 damage at +0). Upgrading weapon does increase damage, but not a ton (seems to be the theme in the DLC weapon, with almost all weapons having high base damage with minimal improvement to be gained from weapon upgrades)
IMHO seems like the best way to utilize would be to get min stats and just stock 3 +0 magic ice rapiers in your left hand slot just to have a powerful, spammable ranged attack - Seems way cheaper than actually farming soul spears - and you can do it on any build with only 15 dex and 11 strength.

Just started using this weapon and it is a total blast. Respectable range, utility ranged attack to punish archers and sorcerers alike, and really fast. Also you can win ANY trade if you see it coming with the R2 attack, with the combination of counter damage and the double hit, I have gotten around 1500 with an un-optimized build.

Magic Ice Rapier +5 is a staple for endgame sorcery builds.
Where does the ice spear gets scale from? Magic? Dark? Also, if its infused with lighting or fire, does the ice spear get that element damage?
Dark ice rapier+5 dark sunset staff+5 50k sm twink with agape ring to never lose in an invasion. Enjoy.
