Piercing Swords in Dark Souls II are a type of Weapon that mainly focuses its attack with thrusts, capable for getting through heavy armor or scales of the opponent. The Piercing Swords attack motion allows rapid thrusting attacks in quick succession, its runniong attack performs a lunge which allows users to gain a farther reach compared to other swords. While its thrusting attacks are very efective against armor, the impact area of the attacks is small which means it can easily be evaded. Piercing Swords are best used when trying to interrupt an opponent before they begin their attack. Some Piercing Swords also deal high critical damage, as well as Backstab and Riposte. You can also use Piercing Swords simultaneously while guarding with a Shield. They also have a unique animation that completely replaces the kick attack where the user makes a horizontal swiping combo while doing a backstep. Piercing Swords can also be used to parry when equipped on the left hand. This page covers a list of all Piercing Swords in Dark Souls 2.

"Piercing Swords can also be used to parry when equipped on the left hand." I thought all weapons could be used to parry.

Hey there, it's me, the one guy who won't see anyone who replies to this because they already 100%'d the game. Just here to tell you: Rapiers are the absolute best in any videogame even if their stats suck because they just look so ****ing elegant. Goodbye, and stay cool!

How do you counter these stupid things? They swing faster and hit harder than my UGS. And to top it off they sometimes get 3 hit combos with enough lag. RIP Ds2 having the best PvP of the series

The Chaos Rapier is also sold by Felkin the Outcast for 7500 souls in SOTFS.
Why is this category called Piercing Swords in the wiki? It's refered to as Thrusting Swords in-game afterall.
Why use theses when you can use Spears/Lances?
