Morning Star is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
A club fitted with a spiked head. The spikes of this blunt weapon cause bleeding. Normally wielded by clerics, but clearly intended to draw blood.
Acquired From
- Treasure in Majula. Along the cliffs leading to the tutorial zone there's a gap in the rocks to jump down to.
- Treasure in: Huntsman's Copse inside one of the circular rooms after the second bonfire, the same room that has the lever to move down the bridge to the Undead Purgatory
- Unlimited can be bought from Blue Sentinel Targray for 1600 souls. Please note that you must be in the covenant to use him as a vendor.
Hints and Tips:
- Upgraded with regular Titanite. Cannot be infused with Bleed.
- The first hammer you can pick up for free in the game. Useful for non-cleric classes who don't want to buy a Mace as it works well against Heide's Tower knights.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

With the bleed I found 2 handing this weapon the best when farming/against Ogres (hippo enemy) in beginning parts of the game for 1,000 souls each.
A really good choice for and infused element, as it don't loose that much damage and scaling, and do at the same time a ton of damage, if you wonder why not using the Mace instead, it is because that weapon works better with pure physical damage.

Is it decent to infuse with poison so that causes bleed and poison damage? Why?

Great for a weapon which any character can grab in the first minute of the game

Range is terrible. Attack animations are terrible. Attack hit boxes are terrible. This weapon is terrible.

Underestimated weapon. Strike damage good for amored enemies and bleed damage good for unarmored enemies. Really good weapon

If only the range wasnt soo bad with this weapon, other than that, good vs small enemies

It's not superb since it deals too little bleed to proc it (except on really tough enemies like bosses) but it beats the broken straight sword so if you go warrior (the only class who can start off one-handing it), make sure to grab this from the cliffside when you make it to Majula.

Blunt damage for heavy armored enemy and bleed damage for unarmored enemy

Wtf!? Cant be infused with bleed, cant use any resin/ooze/serum!?

Be really careful about this weapon. This weapon is what hackers use 90% of the time to one-shot you and break all of your gear.
I sure love missing enemies at point-blank with a weapon that is way slower and shorter than a Broadsword while also doing less damage to anything that isn't specifically weak to strike damage, Just use the Mace, It's better in every way other than the lack of bleed, which isn't even that much of an advantage anyway since this weapon takes absolutely forever to bleed anything when i used it, enemies would die long before the bleed would ever proc, which is saying something considering how this weapon's damage is less-than-impressive against anything that isn't very weak to strike damage.
