Ricard's Rapier is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
An exquisitely decorated rapier.
Said to belong to a prince who appears in an ancient tale.
There are numerous variations of the story of the prince who wandered the lands and eventually became Undead.
The majority of these tales end in tragedy. but there are some exceptions.
Acquired From
- Treasure in Huntsman's Copse. Bottom of the pit after first bonfire.
- Rare drop from Spiders in Brightstone Cove Tseldora
Hints and Tips:
- Upgraded with regular Titanite to +10.
- The heavy attack in either hand is a flurry of thrust attacks, good with the Old Leo Ring and bosses with large counter windows.
- Tap once more during strong attack to land more hits.
- The weapon has a relatively low durability of 45 so it breaks rather easy when spamming the heavy attack because each hit within the flurry counts towards the weapon durability.
- In power stance with this weapon as your right hand your power stance strong attacks will use very little stamina, due to the stamina cost is seperated into each hit.
- Not quite useful on inflicting poison with heavy attack, it only inflicts 137 poison buildup in total provided all thrusts are landed, plus not as agile as the Channeler's Trident
.
Trivia:
- This rapier is featured in the original Dark Souls as loot for killing Prince Ricard.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

I may be the only one who prefer that aesthetically over the DS1 Ricard's Rapier.
That's my favorite weapon as well.

I hate how they redesigned this weapon in DS2. It doesn’t look like an actual rapier anymore >_<

Upgraded to +7, enchanted with lighting. Wearing stone, and old Leo and blades rings. Love killing everything in two heavy attacks.
- Anonymous
They say it drops from the spiders in brightstone. But while farming the necromorph looking dudes for the tseldora set (genocided these spiders during every run) never saw it drop once. How rare even is this if its supposed to drop from them?

"Exquisitely decorated" my a$$, this thing isn't even remotely as beautiful and detailed as the Dark Souls 1 Ricard's rapier
- Anonymous
"Not quite useful on inflicting Poison with it's heavy attack", I call BS on that one, it only takes one to two heavy attacks to Poison most enemies on my Poison build when Poison infused at +7.

Have you noticed that R1-R2 while two handed makes the flurry to comes up muc faster?
- Anonymous
In ds1 and ds3 hits a little faster than a straight sword s r1, here in dark souls 2 hits almost as fast as kenshiro. A risky strong attack but breaks poise easily, perfect for poisoning or inflicting high elemental damage quickly

I love this thing. My second playthrough, I found it after cheesing dragonrider and rishing to huntsman's for a whip build. Found this and made the game easy peasy.
- Anonymous
Why would they put it in an iron chest if it can easily be farm from the spiders? I got 3 of them without wanting before reaching Huntmans Copse.
- Anonymous
Upgrade to 10 ,infuse with poison, use sanctum gauntlets, rat ring, single heavy attack 100% poison guatanteed. Mytha Blade need 3-4
Strike and trident need 2 strike

What stats are require to wield this weapon? My character seems to be unable to use it effectively and I don't understand why. Low Dex?
- Anonymous
This page says it is "not quite useful at inflicting poison" wtf you can poison anything with 1 r2 attack flurry.. btw use it like this I'm the dark chasm to poison all the mean baddies them nail them with your reg weapon.
- Anonymous
At +10 uninfused and 50 dex Ricard's Rapier has 315 pure phys AR, more than all of the other rapiers. I didn't check the Chaos Rapier as I didn't have the stats.
- Anonymous
I don't have SotFS so maybe thats the difference but I just got a second ricards rapier. I found the one in huntsmans copse awhile back, just had one drop from a spider in Brightstone Cove
Pros: better rapier at high dex, powerstanced strong attacks cost very little stamina if this is on the right hand, applies poison fast with barrage. Cons: made of glass, no crystal lizzards for you, goodbye good looks
