*When infused: 191 magic dmg/258 elemental dmg
Sorcerer's Staff is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
The first staff of most sorcerers. A catalyst for sorceries and hexes.
To use sorceries, attune a sorcery at a bonfire and equip a staff.
The strength of most sorceries is affected by the caster's intelligence.
Acquired From:
- Starting equipment of Sorcerer Class
- Can be bought from Carhillion of the Fold
- Found in a hidden room at the bottom of the large set of stairs in the Pate "trap" in the Forest of Giants
Hints and Tips:
- With the second highest base casting speed in the game, use spells that have many casts to take advantage of this.
- Also a passable catalyst for buffs in PVE, like magic weapon and magic shield. Better for mid boss fight casting.
- When compared with Witchtree Branch, Sorcerer's staff excels better as a hex staff than magic while Witchtree Branch is better for magic since its weaker than Sorcerer's in dealing hex.
- Confirmed that at higher SL's(80 int/fth), the Sorcerer's Staff outdamages other staves that are a B for both intelligence and faith which means the Sorcerer's staff does the best B scaling for all staves, despite having other staffs being more powerful or scale better, it is very notable indeed for its 135 cast speed and B scaling mastery.
- 357 magic bns when infused with 52 int, if you desire speed this is easily outclassed by witchtree.
- 361 dark with 30/30

There is no hidden room that contains this catalyst, I've already searched every damned wall...

Does this staff have less stamina cost then the others? I swear I have more stamina for spamming certain sorcery combos when using this staff.

I think the location of the staff in that chest has been moved from the bottom of the stairs. can someone confirm?
To find this stave, head down the stairs mentioned above and look directly to the left, walk up to the wall and press the confirm button (X for PS users). Just spam the button on the left walls and you'll eventually find it. Take care to not attract the mob of hallowed infantry...
