Witchtree Branch is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
Branch of a forest-wandering witchtree. A catalyst for sorceries and hexes.
Now it is used as a weapon, but this was originally a part of a witchtree.
Acquired From:
- The pit in the middle of Majula.
- Once Laddersmith Gilligan arrives in Majula, ask for him to create the 12,000 soul ladder. After climbing down the ladder, be sure to climb up the metal ladder to the left. The Witchtree is in one of the metal chests inside the room. Note: Requires 'Forgotten Key'.
- You can acquire the Staff earlier by dropping from the pit using the planks. After reaching the last platform right before the first cave opening, drop from the right side of the plank to fall on the platform where the metal ladder is located. Use the Silvercat Ring and lower your equip load to reduce fall damage. Note: You will still need the Forgotten Key to access the room.
Hints and Tips:
- Has the highest casting speed of all catalysts, seemly a jack of all trade staff if without infusion, it actually has better dark scaling if infused with Dark.
- upon +10 Dark infusion, it's actually quite decent for casting Dark Orb and Dark Hail combined with all casting speed boosting armors and rings.
- One can execute a deadly combo such as Affinity + Dark Greatsword within a few second with the help of this staff.
- 386 magic bns when infused with 52 int.
- 436 dark with 30/30
- Completely outclasses sorcerer staff.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Often better than sunset staff for pve. Occasionally sunset's extra power will make the difference between 1-shotting and 2-shotting an enemy. But I usually prefer this. It's spamming power is tremendous. Pairs well with a stamina regen shield and cloranthy ring. More stamina = more dark orbs = more dead things.

Statement that it completely outclasses Sorerer's Staff is wrong. For it deals worse damage when used for dark magic and is only marginally faster. Overaly I would call it better staff but Sorcerer Staff has niche at which it exced's better.
In the first 'Requirements and Bonus' table, it is listed as 'B' for Faith and 'A' for Dark. Should be Intel and Dark, no faith.
Best staff imo. Sure, not the best damage, but the speed makes for it
