Small Shields | Strike / Parry | ||
No Enchantment | No Special |
“Small metal shield with protrusions.
Small shields are very light and easy to use,
but have low stability when attacked.
The protrusions on the center of the shield
are designed to brush attacks aside and
make parrying easier.”
Target Shield is a Small Shield in Dark Souls 2. Small Shields can be used not only to block an enemy but to parry their attack as well. This allows a riposte, a free attack by the player for a high amount of damage. Enemy attacks can be interrupted with a parry (pressing the Strong Attack button for the shield) and requires practice to learn the timing.
Acquired From:
- Hidden behind a wall in the Ruin Sentinels boss room.
Hints and Tips:
- The chest containing the target shield can be destroyed through the wall by the wide swings of the bosses during the fight, resulting in a pile of rubbish in place of the shield.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".

Sentinel broke the chest... guess you could say the shield was targeted by mistake
I’ll see myself out

I think the Sentinels are able to break the chest containing this shield if you get unlucky... like I did.

I never thought this would ACTUALLY be helpful for parrying, I tested it on every parryable enemy and I'm that close to becoming a parry god
