Small Shields | Strike / Parry | ||
Enchantable: Yes/No |
No Special |
Benhart's Parma is a Small Shield in Dark Souls 2. Small Shields can be used not only to block an enemy but to parry their attack as well. This allows a riposte, a free attack by the player for a high amount of damage. Enemy attacks can be interrupted with a parry (pressing the Strong Attack button for the shield) and requires practice to learn the timing.
Acquired From:
- Merchant Hag Melentia (Purchasable after Benhart's death)
- Benhart of Jugo (Upon completing his quest)
Hints and Tips:
- This is a relatively light shield requiring very little strength. If you happened to kill Benhart for some reason, the shield provides excellent magic defense early-on, giving a monstrous 98.7% magic defense at +9 while infused with Magic, making it a great go-to shield for magic heavy areas (such as Shrine of Amana). Beyond this it makes a great lightweight magic defense shield that still retains pretty good physical defense and okay resistances to the other elements.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.

The magic def stat on this site is wrong. According to other sites it's only 50 at +0 and 62.5 at +10. And if you look at the infusions this shield would lose magic absorption if you infuse it with magic which doesn't make sense.

This is just a much newer, better condition, painted version of the foot soldier shield.
