Fume Ultra Greatsword is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
Ultra Greatsword forged from the soul of the Fume Knight.
The Exile swordsman Raime had the ability to expunge the black fog, but chose to live alongside it, in company of the child of dark that haunts his sword.
Acquired From
- Weaponsmith Ornifex, traded for the Soul of Fume Knight and 25,000 souls. (DLC Crown of the Old Iron King)
Hints and Tips:
- Reinforced with Petrified Dragon Bone to +5.
- Neither resins nor spells can buff this weapon.
- Will perform a brief block then counter attack with either L2 while two-handing or R2 while one-handing. The block lingers longer than the animation indicates.
- Since it is a block, if timed well, a guard break can stop your attack and get you stunned.
- Coupling the ability to block an attack while attacking, and having high poise, will allow you to absorb two hits from your opponent without disrupting the attack animation. This can be very useful in PvP.
- Because of its high stability and reasonable durability along with decent reductions except for magic, this sword's guard is superior to most weapons.
- The weakness of this sword would be the lack of horizontal swing, only one handed R1 second swing and two handed R2 second swing. Recommended to pair a straight sword as sidearm.
Trivia:
- It loosely resembles a molten Dragon Bone Smasher from Demon's Souls, with a damaged hilt.
- One of the very few weapons introduced into Dark Souls 2 and carry over into Dark Souls 3.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Lacks the L2 parry of the other UGS's, but UGS parries are so slow and clunky that you're better off just using a shield for parrying, the L2 attack of this weapon is way better, you block with it for a few seconds, the block lingering longer than the animation indicates, and then you do a big vertical smash that does high damage and sends average-sized mobs and invaders/players flying, it's an extremely useful ability if you use it right, being able to completely negate most damage with the block when timed well and especially if you have high poise (you can be guard-broken, but nothing other than an extremely well-timed guard break will break you guard while doing the L2 for the most part) and most attacks will bounc off of it if they make the mistake of hitting you while you're blocking and most enemies/NPCs are too stupid to try and avoid the counter attack and will get completely floored by it, and against players, you can aim the counter swing to catch them if they try to roll away, and is a great move in PvP, especially for punishing overly aggressive/greedy players

It's worth noting that the 2-handed R2s on this weapon are really good, it comes out surprisingly fast for an attack of its power, it has good reach, and it not only stops most average-sized enemies dead in their tracks, it sends them flying, that combined with the surprisingly fast speed of it means you can easily stunlock enemies and npc invaders to death with it if you time it right flinging them around over and over without them even having a chance to recover let alone attack you.

Is it just me, or are the two-handed r1s faster or at least have less recovery time than the Guts Sword's two-handed r1s despite them visually being the same attacks?
When I was fighting the Darklurker the r1s of this weapon were fast enough for me to hit him while he was starting to wind up for a dark greatsword swing and still have time to dodge his swings after hitting him
Whereas if I tried to do the same thing with the Guts Sword I'd get hit by his swings every time due to not being able to recover from my swing in time to dodge
I swear that this weapons has to be faster swinging or atleast have less recovery time on its R1s

Although this sword is definitely amazing and one of the strongest, if not the strongest ultra greatswords in the game, but I can't helpe but be kinda sad that you can't buff it like Raime does
Perhaps that's because it loses Nadalia's power after you kill him, leaving it still plenty powerful, but not as much as it was in the hands of its original owner

I'm currently trying this on a quality build, it's pretty fun to use and since I need that much dex, I can use some fun stuff with it too

Don't bother using lock-on with this. It deliberately misses everything and somehow goes 180 degrees in the opposite direction whenever you swing it at whatever you locked on to.

Why is everyone crying over stat requirement just make a 40vgr, 30end,30vit,50str and 30dex. Youll be fine trust me.

Ds3 Version is so much better. Pure str plus the Pvp killer moveset is god tier material. FUGS as quality weapon is such a crime...
- Anonymous
the attacks appear to be 20-30% faster than all other UGS, plus it has the 2H strong attack pancake attack for invaders and players, add the uniqueblock counter attack and then its my favorite UGS ingame
- Anonymous
The extreme Dex requirement (plus the mediocre scaling) basically makes this a quality weapon.

When playing pvp, use r2 (two handed) you will appear vulnerable for backstab, then SIKE, use the followup R2 move and yeet them out of existence!

Dodge dodge dodge dodge dodge dodge dodge hit, just be careful not to die of boredom as well.

I did NOT expect this thing to be so fast wowww. You hit R1 and it just ZOOM OH LAWD
- Anonymous
i wish it had at least the fire visual when the boss hits you with the vertical attack on the first phase, but it doesn't

I dual wielded two of those and the damage output was insane.
- Anonymous
The high dex requirement is probably to encourage pairing it with a fast weapon, making it good 40/40 with a light weapon of choice (espada gang)

Everyone here complaining on 30 dex req. No its not bull*****the scaling on strengh is S,and that lil dex req can be also usefull for other weapons and gear(greatshields and what not).Stop *****ing
- Anonymous
The FUGS seems pretty decent for its innate S scaling in strength, but that 30 dexterity requirement makes me feel like as if I would better off making a Quality build.
- Anonymous
This weapon is way to OP it has a hit box 4 times the size of it it deos incredible damage oh and in pvp the the lag dosent help
- Anonymous
With this sword you need a whole character made to use this weapon

The weapon all casuals want. But can never get without their friends carrying them all the way to it

Can you do the dark/fire buff with it like during the boss fight or no?

so, can you buff the sword? it only says it can't be buffed with resins, could someone please clarify that?
30 dex is insane. However, I guess sporting this weapon in pvp is for bragging. I haven’t beaten Raime yet (not that I tried)

Would it be effective to block with the sword itself if you wish to two hand it,and have no shield?
There is a spelling mistake on the 7th line of Hints and Tips. The word 'animation' is spelled 'anamation'.
This weapon is great but why TF is there a huge dex requirement?
