Smelter Sword is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
An ultra greatsword forged from the soul of the Smelter Demon. Its blade bears the strength of terrible flames, a latent power unleashed by a strong attack. The earth spouted fire, and a beast arose from the flames. The short-sighted king was incinerated by the creature in one swing, and his castle devoured in a sea of flames.
Effect: special attack (strong attack)
Acquired From
- Straid of Olaphis, traded for Smelter Demon Soul and 1,500 souls.
Hints and Tips:
- Upgraded with Petrified Dragon Bone to +5, it cannot be infused or buffed.
- The one-handed R2 (RT) overhead can be combo'd, with the second strike also bearing the special functionality, provided that the player has enough stamina to do so. (A quick glance shows that the Smelter Sword's one-handed R2 consumes about 105 stamina.
- As of Regulation 1.11, Dual Smelter Swords will have their special attacks applicable upon power stance strong attack.
- With 40 strength, 30 dexterity, and 8 faith, this weapon will have an AR of 614
- There is also an alternate version, the Aged Smelter Sword, which does magic damage instead of fire

The R2 special doesn’t seem to have hyper armor frames like other ultra greatsword attacks

In SotFS, whenever two handing the smelter sword and doing the R2, the durability drops by about 10 points per strike. Please add this to this page
oddly enough, the r2 deals physical damage on both the blade and the explosion. same thing applies to the aged smelter sword
