Gyrm Great Hammer is a weapon in Dark Souls 2. Gyrm Great Hammer in Dark Souls 2 is a formidable weapon used by the nomadic Gyrm. Acquired by defeating Gyrm Warrior with hammers, it cannot be infused with Bleed and is upgraded with regular Titanite. Strong attacks consist of spinning moves, and the two-handed attack delivers massive damage, making it one of the hardest-hitting weapons in the gam

A great hammer used by the nomadic Gyrm.

A makeshift weapon created from a blacksmith's anvil.

As heavy as it appears. Crafted rather shoddily, but each hit landed is certain to inflict serious damage.

Acquired From

Hints and Tips:

  • Upgraded with regular Titanite. Cannot be infused with Bleed.
  • The R1 attacks have short reach, but they're quick for the weapons' size. One-handed R1 is slam right in front of you. It can hit multiple enemies if they're grouped tightly enough. Two-handed R1 is a spin followed by a slam.
  • The hammer's strong attacks are essentially all spinning moves that hit around you; the two-handed spin will inflict two hits at least--but it takes a large amount of your own stamina with each hit. The two-handed R2 strong attack will inflict massive damage, making it one of the most hard hitting weapons in the game.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.
Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

I kind of enjoy that the weapon durability is actually relevant in DS2. It forces me to build up a repertoire of weapons to use, instead of just maining the same thing constantly

Blacksmith: What do you need me to forge?

Me: Actually just give me the forge.

        Blacksmith: What?

        Me: Did I stutter?

I bought the game recently and I was scrolling through the weapons it had for something that would catch my interest and that's literally a ****ing anvil on a stick. Definitely will be my choice.

That feeling when an Anvil on a stick with some chain wrapped around it is arguably superior to a giant demon mace

I love the "crude and simple yet effective" nature of the Gyrm's equipment, the way they make something just as effective if not more effective than most man(?)-made great hammers by taking a big stick and glueing and Anvil to it and wrapping some chain around it, having one of the best great shields with very strong defenses against fire and physical attacks that's literally just a pair of huge rocks crudely stuck together, the Gyrm truly are geniuses

This weapon is just hilarious. It's like a blacksmith got fed up with his king's requirements and crafted this to "smith" people with it.

So many complex designs on so many fancy weapons, yet the ones capable of crushing giants down are the simplest tools.

So... I was comparing greathammer stats. It turns out that this anvil on a stick is just a straight up better version of both the Demon Greathammer and Drakekeeper Greathammer - on paper, anyhow. All 3 of them have the exact same stats except - same damage, defenses, stability, counter damage, and poise damage - but they differ in weight and requirements. The Demon Greathammer requires 50 strength and weighs 26.0; The Drakekeeper requires 50 Strength and weights 20.0; The Gyrm Hammer requires 40 Strength and weighs 20.0; in conclusion, gyrm hammer is just statistically better, requiring 10 less Strength (5 less if you two-hand), having the lowest Dex requirement, and tying with Drakekeeper for weight. Unless the Demon Hammer and Drakekeeper Hammer have better movesets or stamina consumption, there is really no statistical reason to *not* pick Gyrm Hammer over them. Then again, this is based off of the wiki's recorded information, which could potentially be wrong. Some double-checking is necessary,

This thing has an unusual great hammer moveset that I prefer to the generic great hammers. 2H normal attack is a hammer swipe and then a hammer smash that knocks down, strong attack is a spin that knocks down. Normally greathammers either don't have a spin or have it as a second attack and it's generally rarely used, even though it's great crowd control.

When you prop an anvil on a stick and think: "Mhm... it's too light... Lemmi wrap some chain around it..."
