Parrying Dagger is a weapon in Dark Souls 2. The Parrying Dagger, with a primary focus on Dexterity scaling, is crafted for swift slash and thrust attacks. Its standout feature lies in its parrying capabilities. Additionally, it operates similarly to rapiers, but with a quicker visual animation at the start. Mastering the weapon allows for a unique guard break critical after a successful parry, inflicting even more damage.
Unlike standard weapons, this dagger is intended for parrying.
Accomplishments are forever out of reach to those who constantly fear failure. A true warrior hones his body and mind, and peers far beyond immediate hardship.
How to get Parrying Dagger in Dark Souls 2
- From Servants' Quarters bonfire: Turn right after the wooden bridge then instead of the wooden ladder, go left and fall off the roof. Various dogs and Royal Soldiers will be guarding a chest room contaning this weapon.
- From Exile Holding cells (Requires Antiquated Key): Head left from the bonfire and go down the ladder or jump off, there will be a boarded up wall at the bottom. Break the boards, head through and open the locked door. There is a passage way that leads to this weapon, along with the Bone Staff and Twinblade.
- Semi-rare drop from the spiders in lower Brightstone Cove Tseldora.
DS2 Parrying Dagger Hints and Tips
- Upgraded with regular Titanite to +10.
- Works similar to Rapiers, however the animation visually begins quicker with this weapon.
- Very effective if you can master it; after a successful parry, if you hit RB/R1 before the enemy falls to the ground you will execute the guard break critical instead of the riposte critical, inflicting even more damage.
- This can be done in PvP although it is rather difficult to pull off, so practice is encouraged.
- Though this weapon can perform a slash when doing a sprinting attack, it is primarily a thrusting weapon.
- Lightest weapon of the dagger category.
- See our Parry page for more details.
- Can perform a slash after light attack from this weapons in opposit hand: Parrying Dagger, Bandit's knife, Dagger, Broken sword, Mail Breaker.
- While being the best off-hand to parry with (can parry multiple enemies / quick hits in conjunction if skillful), it is the quickest, and therefore the hardest to use. Easiest off-hand to parry with is the Buckler.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Unlike all other parry tools which have a slower animation if you don't meet their stat requirements, Parrying Dagger has no drawbacks if you don't meet its requirements.

I use this just cause it’s lighter than the parrying shields

Very effective if you can master it; after a successful parry, if you hit RB/R1 before the enemy falls to the ground you will execute the guard break critical instead of the riposte critical, inflicting even more damage. <- I can't understand. How?

Dual wield this, get ironclad set and call yourself raphael. Welcome to the ninja turtles!

One of the better descriptions if not THE best description for any item in the game and you have it reduced to some stupid joke.

The Parry Dagger has a Parry that, like parries in the 1st and 3rd game, start immediately upon button press; additionally, the active frames rival that of a dueling style weapon (such as the Rapier). Quite effective in PvP, given it's now possible last second use, also deals tremendous riposte damage. A GREAT weapon for the right hand (as it can parry in both).
i just wish it had the ds1-3 animation with the exact same frames, oh well
