Demon's Great Hammer is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
Great hammer made of unknown materials. Perhaps it is stone, or even wood.
The origins of its name are unclear. Its tremendous weight suggests that it was never intended for humans. Perhaps it was an offering to the demons that appear in legend.
Acquired From:
- Trade with Dyna and Tillo in Things Betwixt. (Petrified Something gives you the best odds.)
Hints and Tips:
- Upgraded with Twinkling Titanite. Cannot be infused with Bleed.
- This could be one of the best weapons you can get at the start of the game, but be warned that you will need a lot of strength to wield it. Wielding a weapon in two hands halves the strength requirement, meaning that you will only need 25 str to 2-hand the Demon's Great Hammer.
Trivia:
- Belonged to, or at least was wielded by, the Asylum Demon in Dark Souls 1
- Demon weapon built from the stone archtrees. Used by lesser demons at North Undead Asylum (item description from DS1)
- Similar to DS1, the weapon can be obtained via a bird's nest

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Can someone explain to me what the two-handed L2 attack is supposed to be doing?

Question for people: Is there a reason to use this over the Dragon Tooth for reasons other than getting it earlier?

Started to a new game in DS2 and somehow managed to get three of these from the Dyna and Tillo.

So much for my Halberd->Scythe run. I guess I’m going with this.

Good weapon for a Str/Pyro build. Fire infused, it's basically a harder hitting iron king hammer with better reach (and without the special R2 attack). Also buffable with flame weapon.

S+ tier weapon. Makes DS2 basically a whack-a-mole extravaganza!

Doing a 4 person co op run with my friends, they are all running normal builds, got a caster a cleric and a katan boy and then there me, naked, 50 strength by the end of the lost giant fight, and this hammer. Its okay, i guess.

ive gotten this multiple times off the small stone. now when i actually want to try it i keep getting old whips and white rings off the petrified something. ffs rng
- Anonymous
Anyone else think these hammers break pretty fast? it says it has 70 durability but 2 hand R2 drains it fast.
- Anonymous
25 strength to two hand it, you need half the strength requirement in ds2
- Anonymous
Just to let everybody know, despite what the info says, you can get top tier***** with the small smooth and silky stone only much less frequently...or does the wiki say that?
- Anonymous
Wiki is wrong, you don't need 37 strength to two hand it. I'm not sure what the minimum is, but I have 35 strength and can use it just fine.
- Anonymous
Got it from my first time playing with the Petrefied something.

Got it from the small smooth and silky stone you can get at the beginning, lol.

tried to get one for 4 hours today.. atleast 180 times... I think they patched it

I put on the Jester MAsk, crack some coins for luck... exchange the "petrified something," I GOT ONE... repeat I GOT ANOTHER ONE?! the problem is, iam a DEX build....
I have like 3 of these I wanted to get the Channeler's Trident, White Ring and the Old Whip.
- Anonymous
I have run through the begining over 50 times. I guess i dont have luck enough for the thing to *****ing drop.
- Anonymous
For those having trouble getting it, just back up your save before you trade for it and keep restoring that save and trading again until you get it.

This is literally the only weapon I want for my strength build (besides Drakekeeper's hammer). I've been on a manhunt for petrified somethings. Everytime I get one, I head straight to things betwixt. My only complaint? I have gotten one yet. You want to know what I do have? Channaler's Trident. A***** ton of Channeler's Trident. RNGesus ain't on my side. So, I've lost most of my hope on getting the weapon as soon as possible. So, im just waiting to see what'll come first: either that one special petrified gets me the hammer, or I get to Dragon Aerie and get the Drakekeeper's. Whichever comes first.

10 out of 10, would use again. Serriously though, this weapon carried me through the entire game.

It looks like the hammers the Ironclad Soldiers use. Time for a cosplay.

Got two in a row with the Petrified Something and the Smooth & Silky Stone from the firekeeper's house.
So here I come, Powerstanced Dual Demon Great Hammer Build!!!

With 25 strength it shows as unusable on SotFS...Has the two-handed requirement changed?
- Anonymous
I got this from Small Smooth and Silky Stone on PS3 as well as the White Ring, Old Whip AND Titanite Slab...I've been restarting over often trying to finish without dying so I trade petrified something and small stone you get right before the house with the old hags, hidden behind the waterfall. And I've gotten lower tier from Petrified something so this information is all wrong...I haven't tried with Prism but Small Smooth stone yielded highest tier items and Petrified something yielded lower tier items.

A bit tricky to use but if you mastered this weapon it can carry you to the most part of the game.

I got one from petrified something i took as burial gift, and this hammer is OP. I summoned phantom, and when i showed him my greathammer - he used black separation crystal.(sp00ky)
This thing is brutal for how early you get it, and you can 2 hand it at 25 str. It'll 2 shot the big knights you fight before the dragon rider boss. Good move set, has a unique (but awful) parry. Overall, this mfer BONKS.
