Dark Orb is a Hex in Dark Souls 2. To cast a Hex, you must use a staff/chime or Special Weapons that can cast Hex.
"A hex modified from an old sorcery by Gilleah, the father of Hexing.
Fires a heavy orb of darkness.
To use hexes, equip a sacred chime or staff, and attune a hex at a bonfire.
Required equipment depends on hex.
Catalyst: Staff"
Acquired From
- Purchased from Felkin the Outcast and Straid of Olaphis for 600 souls. Can also be bought from Darkdiver Grandahl.
Notes
- Basic dark spell. High number of casts. Excellent for PvE. Less effective than Resonant Soul.
Recommend to cast it with Dark Witchtree Branch and Clear Bluestone Ring +2 for an outrageously fast casting speed, handy as PvP standard projectile. Increasing Attunement will increase the number of uses. Multiple instances of this spell can be equipped at the same time, assuming you have the available attunement slots. - Also cast with Dark Clutch Ring and Abyss Seal to maximize damage output to easily deal 800-900 damage in PVP and about 500-700 damage in PVE (Tested with 60 fth, 60 int, 50 atn, and dark Sunset Staff +5 SotFS)
Does good poise damage and can do massive stamina damage.

This is a spell that takes a bit for its real potential to be realized. I was not impressed at all with it at first, but once I started putting some levels in, bumping up my Sunset Staff, I just became an absolutely unstoppable machine with it, and it quickly became the only spell I'd use. It literally got me from the beginning of Sir Alonne and B- Smelter Demon's areas, to the boss fight, then clear the boss and still have 7-10 orbs left. Stupid good Hex that you'll need to be a bit patient for.

This spell & +5 dark-infused Sunset Staff will carry you through the whole game. Turns the Iron Keep into a soul farming paradise.

Easily best spell for PvP: low requirements, multiple copies, high (stamina) damage, relatiely fast, early access, **** ton of spell uses

Fantastic spell in both PvE and PvP. With the witchtree branch fast cast it's a monster.
But the icon looks soo much like the Dark Fog that it messed me up several time during invasions.
So I got the old network test files and used an icon from that as a texture mod.

Absolutely breaks PvE. Fast, powerful, and cheap. But its slow velocity makes it bad for PvP as anything other than a spam attack. Miracle hexes are much better against players

Amazing spell. The first thing every mage should learn after which end of the stick to hold.

Worst hex ever, get hit once devours 85% of your stamina, 20 cast per copy, you get two, and the lag makes it terrible.
PVE nubs luv this

Looks cool, sounds cool, does good damage. One of my favorite things in DS2.

Butter and bread of a Hexer Build, can deal good amount of damage with 22 Int 20 Fth and Sunset Staff at early game.
What are the INT and FTH caps for this? It seems to taper off fast to the point that putting souls into INT and FTH appears pointless after awhile.
