Standard Shields | Strike / Parry | ||
Enchantable: Yes/No |
No Special |
Golden Wing Shield is a Standard Shield in Dark Souls 2. Standard Shields can be used not only to block an enemy but to parry their attack as well. This allows a riposte, a free attack by the player for a high amount of damage. Enemy attacks can be interrupted with a parry (pressing the Strong Attack button for the shield) and requires practice to learn the timing.
Acquired From:
- The Golden Wing Shield is located in the Lost Bastille. If you port to the Salt Fort bonfire in Sinner's Rise, go down the ladder and take an immediate left. Run across the bridge there and into the doorway at the other end. There are some stairs to the right. Go down them. There is a cell in front of you as you come down and a door right to the left of it. Go through the door and straight to the back. There is a false wall here. Press (X) on PS3 or (A) on Xbox to open the false wall. Inside there is another false wall to your left. Again press (X) or (A). Ahead is a corpse across a small gap you must jump. Jump across and get the Flame Butterfly and 3 torches on it and then drop on to the little ledge to the right. Follow this all the way down to the end where the corpse with the Golden Wing Shield is.
- Originally, this shield was the shield the warrior used in the beta

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Very similar to Arthur's shield from the Ghosts'n'Goblins series

I wish this shield had 100% physical block. That would make it truly a good medium shield. The fact that it lets 40% of physical damage through is why I never use it. It's sad because I love the design. Today I learned that in Dark Souls 3 they gave this shield 100% physical block. I'll always prefer Dark Souls 2 over Dark Souls 3 but DaS3 did a good job by giving this shield 100% phys block.

It should be noted that it is also the shield that Oscar used in the first dark souls :3 good for a character build
one of the best looking shields in the game, i just wear it on my back to look cool
