Standard Shields Strike / Parry
Enchantable:
Yes/No
No Special

Drakekeeper's Shield is a Standard Shield in Dark Souls 2. Standard Shields can be used not only to block an enemy but to parry their attack as well. This allows a riposte, a free attack by the player for a high amount of damage. Enemy attacks can be interrupted with a parry (pressing the Strong Attack button for the shield) and requires practice to learn the timing.

Hints and Tips:

  • Upgraded with regular titanite.
  • When fully upgraded, it's superior to unupgraded Defender's Shield and Bone Shield.
  • When infused with dark, it gains the best defenses for medium shields across the board at the cost of losing 100% physical damage reduction.
  • It is arguably the best "go-to" shield for playing through the entire game with less effort.
  • Since patch 1.15, the weight has been increased from 6.0 to 7.0 and the durability from 80 to 110. It is less viable for a light build compared to Defender's Shield. It is also harder to farm as there is only ONE sword and shield Drakekeepers in the whole game (SotFS).

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.
Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)
