Standard Shields | Strike / Parry | ||

"A rare shield depicting a blossoming flower,
that soothes the weary heart of its bearer.
What makes flowers beautiful, and why
are we comforted when we gaze upon them?
Sadly, the flower depicted on this shield
went extinct long ago.
Effect: stamina recovery"
Blossom Kite Shield is a Standard Shield in Dark Souls 2. Standard Shields can be used not only to block an enemy but to parry their attack as well. This allows a riposte, a free attack by the player for a high amount of damage. Enemy attacks can be interrupted with a parry (pressing the Strong Attack button for the shield) and requires practice to learn the timing.
Acquired From
- Metal chest in Memory Of Vammar, just before the Giant Soul
Scholar of the First Sin
- Now located in Sinners' Rise. After taking the lift to the lower level it will be on the left hand side when you enter the water, the Undead Aberration has been replaced with the Flexile Sentry in NG. (Actually the Flexile Sentry is there without NG+)
Hints and Tips:
- Infusing with Poison Stone gains 100% poison resistance (projectile and weapons only), compare to Poison Moon Butterfly Shield, this one has better defense, yet difficult to inflict poison with its bashing.
- Stamina Regeneration is roughly equal to 5%
- Stamina Regeneration Stacks with both Green Blossom and Chloranthy Ring variants.
- Stacks with other Stamina Regeneration Shields.
- Light enough for a mage to use but has a strength requirement to block effectively.
- This is one of the selected by From and Namco Bandai.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

This shield looks just as bad as my butthole when I'm constipated
If only this had 90% physical block like the Grass Crest Shield from DS1. 60% phys block is horrible for a shield. Especially the late game. That little bit of extra stam regen is not worth it when it's pretty damn easy to get Chloranthy +1 and even +2 in New Game, and the fact that you'd be letting 40% physical damage get through each block. Yes, I know how to dodge things well, but shields are VERY useful in DS2 for damage negation if you use them properly.

Why not just edit it so it says: the Undead Aberration has been replaced with the Flexile Sentry.

i have this shield equipped for my sorcerer, but i have been wondering, do i need to have the strenght needed for this shield if i want the stamina regen to work?

Chloranthy ring + Blossom Kite Shield
with two handed asylum demon's Hammer
to be continued...

It loses 2.5 poison defense when upgrading to +10 regular? It starts at 95% and says that at +10 it's 92.5...

Wow this shield looks terrible... I miss my bae Grass Crest

This shield and Chloranthy ring are obligatory to have equipped it, since in this game your character's vigor is slower than an asthmatic smoker.

Does stamina regen works when I dual wiled two wepons? (I mean: when shield is not on my left hand nor on my back. When shield is not visible on my character but still use left hand slot)

I've had this shield for the most part of the game, but I just visited the memories for the first time yesterday. Is there another shield that looks like this or can you get it somewhere else?

if you have more than one does it stack? like if I hold three (of any combo of blossom and slumbering dragon) like two slumbering and a blossom... does that give +15% I am trying it and well it is hard to time it
- Anonymous
keep in mind that while this increases stamina recovery, its a very small amount and it might even end up doing NOTHING for you because this shield has weight and stamina recovery is tied to equip load in this game.
