Standard Shields | Strike / Parry | ||
Enchantable: Magic Shield |
No Special |
Large Leather Shield is a standard shield in Dark Souls 2. Standard Shields can be used not only to block an enemy but to parry their attack as well. This allows a riposte, a free attack by the player for a high amount of damage. Enemy attacks can be interrupted with a parry (pressing the Strong Attack button for the shield) and requires practice to learn the timing.
Acquired From:
- Forest of the fallen giants: On a corpse in the stairwell in the room with the crystal lizard, before the elevator down to the Last Giant.
Hints and Tips:
- Nice early-game shield which offers good all-round protection and decent stability for it's low weight. Not ideal for a tank-build but very useful for occasional shield-users which relies more on dodging or parrying.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Is the table wrong, or does this shield seriously have the same fire reduction at +10 when infused with fire and lightning? It’s less than it has without infusion too. That can’t be right.

Extremely useful for low End builds or early casters as a Plan B when things get too close and personal. That 90% physical resist on block is stupidly as high as earlier towershields that has 3.5x its weight.
