Standard Shields Strike / Parry
Enchantable:
Yes/No
No Special

King's Shield is a Standard Shield in Dark Souls 2. Standard Shields can be used not only to block an enemy but to parry their attack as well. This allows a riposte, a free attack by the player for a high amount of damage. Enemy attacks can be interrupted with a parry (pressing the Strong Attack button for the shield) and requires practice to learn the timing.

  • This shield can be seen in the pile of armor near King Vendrick, meaning he used the classic 'sword and board' set-up.

the fact you can see the flags of other countries/territories that fell under drangleic's rule has me wondering 2 things:
1: what must life be like for any of the countries adjacent to the ones where these games take place and watch as their neighbor just devolves into insanity?
2: would these fall under our rule assuming that ownership in these games is base on a trial by combat law and you pick the leave throne ending?

What a handsome shield! I feel like a lot of shields in these games are either generic and boring, or else they're gimmicky and goofy. This one genuinely just looks like a really cool good shield.

I mean sure, this shield is fine and fair enough. But since you can only get Vendrick's soul once per whole entire playthrough, why would you use it on such a bland, boring, thing like this? It's good, but it plays like just a regular medium shield. If you want a good medium shield, there are plenty across the game which are far more accessible than this.

I like the little detail where the crests of all of the countries that presumably fall under Drangleic's rule are at the bottom

Out of the three things you can get from Vendrik, this shield is my favorite. I just love it's design. Fashion Souls!

It would have been nice if they gave it the effect it has on dark souls 3 having a tseldora set with jester gauntlets, warlock mask, covetus silver and the shield would be incredible for soul farming

                • Anonymous

this shield has a nice tone for not being special. It shows that vendrick didnt need to be a god neither have the Soul of a Lord to be powerfull.

Is this shield +5 better than a uninfused +10 Royal Kite shield? I like the design of this one but the Royal kite has been an 'ol reliable I can always count on.

This shield has very good all around defense for a light shield. I don’t know why ppl are saying it sucks. Tbh has a pire mage this is one of the best shield, especially if you use strong magic shield.

                      • Anonymous

Okay this isn’t the best amongst the three options BUT it’s a damn good shield. It has a full melee defense and 85 fire resistance which means you already counter most builds and enemies.

                        • Let's see, I can get a greatsword that deals more damage based on how many souls I'm carrying, a statue on a stick that destroys enemy armor like no tomorrow, or I can get a medium shield with no special qualities.
