Darkdweller (Dark Stalker) is an enemy in Dark Souls 2.
Darkdweller (Dark Stalker) Information
"'Spider monkey like creatures with very long arms. They attack quickly and are quite deadly. They can cause bleeding with 2-3 hits but are terrified of the light and will cower at the sight of it (e.g., a torch); however, if you provoke them for too long, they can rage out even in bright light. If possible, try and get behind them for a backstab, but be careful."

I love how one of the strategy tips is basically “don’t get hit”. Like… Yes. Thank you.

Their grab attack almost never happens . Atleast in Scholar Of The First Sin .

Quite the annoying fiends, I'd like to stick a torch up their arse honestly.

these guys drop pyromancer set, and they're afraid of fire. Were they pyromancers who suffered some kind of mutation?

Is it possible to run past them to get the great sword? Trying to control my soul memory for summon purposes.

Best strategy for darkdwellers, attack one handed while holding a torch. They will cower and attempt to fall back to their "safe space". If you block them, you can wail on them and they won't counterattack. Just don't take too long. Eventually they will enter an aggro animation that looks like they are slapping their own face repeatedly. After that, the torch trick stops working.

I reckon these are transformed pyromancers. In DS1 there are mentions of pyromancy transforming people (Carmina, as well as others in Blighttown) so the fact that these creatures drop the pyromancer gear is interesting to me. Their fear of fire in addition to these items makes me think that they're now scared of pyromancy because it is what turned them into these creatures.

Anyone think that they are similar to the things in oolicile

Just watched a quiet place and I'm fairly certain they used very nearly the exact same creature.

For what it's worth, the Darkdweller's in No Man's Wharf are dropping Radiant Lifegems for me, not regular ones. Currently in NG on SOTFS (PS3).
