Lion Clan Warrior is an enemy in Dark Souls 2.
Lion Clan Warrior Information
Lion Clan Warriors are phenomenally tough beast-men within the Shaded Ruins, armed with powerful axes and shields. Possessed of a fierce hatred of both humanity and the undead, they are both territorial and aggressive. Equipped with cursed battle axes, they can inflict curse status on an unfortunate undead in only a few swings, even through shields! They possess an incredibly strong resistance against magic of any kind; infused melee weapons will avail themselves little against these beasts, and they are highly resistant to both poison and bleeding. In exchange, however, they are somewhat vulnerable to physical damage, but their skill with both their axes and shields is daunting and they stand as some of the toughest foes one can face. They are especially vulnerable to backstabs and ripostes.
They can be extremely problematic if met at early levels. They do high damage, have high defense, and tend to aggro in groups, making them a challenge for the solo player. However, they do not seem to be overly quick and can be strafed for easy backstabs. May strike with high damage, long range, jumping attack if player is far enough away. They appear to be resistant to all types of magic except Yearn, which they'll blindly follow, resulting in an easy backstab opportunity, They are found in Shaded Woods. A stronger version of the Lion Clan Warrior is located near Tark in the shaded woods and has a gold headpiece to signify who he is. Also causes Curse to build. If you bait an attack from them, it can be fairly easy to sprint behind them for a backstab.
For casters, the easiest way of dispatching them is to cast Yearn and then finish them off with Shadow Dagger backstab, this will mostly result in instant kill at early NGs.
They tend to avoid interaction with people and reside at forest, as they despise their appearance, and the craftmanship of their weapon hinted that they were once intelligent creature, and yet they're now deformed into mindless beast, probably a result of Lord Aldia's experiment.

Noticed that these guys are way less numerous in Scholar of the First Sin Shaded Woods than in the Vanilla game version, very ironic considering Scholar of the First Sin usually has a raging hard-on for gank squads and usually throws huge mobs of enemies at you way more than Vanilla Ds2, which I'm thankful about because these guys are a pain in the ass in large groups due to their infinite poise and quite hard-hitting attacks

Has anyone ever managed to stagger these guys? They face-tank Great Hammer R2s without so much as flinching

Infinite poise-having mfs, can literally facetank a two-handed Ultra Greatsword/Great Hammer heavy attack to the face and not even bloody flinch, despite the fact that such an attack will usually pancake or ragdoll any other enemy of their size, even with the Stone Ring, thankfully they're complete backstab-magnets since they attack pretty slowly and it's easy to roll behind them or even just walk behind them to backstab them, annoying in groups tho since these aholes have utterly ridiculous poise and NEVER stagger.

I have a theory about these guys, they are the result of the horrific experiments carried out by the duke (the same one that produced Tark, Najika, and Freyja) and are hostile towards humans because of the horrific experiments done on them by the duke

why does everyone think backstabs are the way to go for these guys? all you need is a long reach weapon, bait an attack, counter attack, rinse and repeat until dead. works 100% of the time with zero health lost unless you get greedy.

just as a word of caution, these things seem to have high poise. i almost got my **** wrecked on intensity 3. the best way to deal with them is simply back stabs with a dagger.

These things look like they escaped from Worlds of Warcraft. I really wish they had not put them in a DS game.

So I have a annoying bug with that guys. When I was in shadded woods, sound starts to play their roar every 10 second or so... well from this point it continues still, in every location expect Majula. Even turning off and on game or PC did'nt help. Luckily it affected only one of my characters, but still it is very irritating. Somebody have proposition what to do with that, please?

For caster i highly recommend backstabbing.
They hit hard but have simple and few swings and are easily baited into backstabs.
The one near the bonfire gives a key to ornifext but let that one be untill you kill the boss if you have issues with them because he will aggro and block bonfire use. Especially if you go caster since ng+ on boss drops spell slot +2 ring and bonfire ascetic will not make it petrified again. The petrified one nearest the boss blocks a chest with a set that increase casting speed and a branch of yore.

Um, I'm guessing that's a mistake on the NG+7 Normal Lion Clan Warrior's HP.

in the shaded ruins bonfire the petrified lion clan warrior can teleport to that bonfire and start chasing me, what do i do???
What? They can't inflict curse... I've played this game for 6 years now and never saw curse building up. Maybe whoever wrote this was near a cursed jar when they got hit and assumed these lions' swings caused the curse build-up.
