Rampart Hedgehog is an enemy in Dark Souls 2.
Rampart Hedgehog Information
It seems to resemble a rat but with deadly ice spikes on it's back.
Location
Drops
- Human Effigy
Strategy Tips
- It's recommended to use a long weapon with high damage that does slash or thrust attacks like halberds, Scythe, spears, ect., or use arrow(s) from afar/high grounds. When too close, their spikes will damage you.
They are always found in packs and with their speed they can easily overwhelm you with numbers. Just as with any enemy, be careful about them surrounding you. - Avoid their spinning attacks, block (with a good shield) or dodge these attacks or take the advantage from high grounds. Combustion or anything similar can interrupt their attacks if they get too close .
Move Set
- Claw swipes
- Rolling attack
- Jump attack

The picture is blurry because no one dares to get too close to it

I think they must've made these enemies one of the most horrible enemies in any souls game to compensate for the fact that Basilisks and Bonewheels aren't as bad in this game.

I am at ng+3, and in the white covetous demon arena there is additional two of these. You can't agro only demon or only them, and you can't see them before you enter arena. Look, I love ds2, but this - is good example why this game got such bad reputation. Tips appreciated, by I will probably figure it out before anyone answers.

they always seem to stagger from arrows, and since they don't have much health, always use a bow against them and they'll never annoy you again

Pyromancies are pretty good at taking them out. Just have the iron king helm on and you'll never run out basically

Compared to these little A-holes, bonewheels are actually quite nice

Another example of the design team completely missing what makes Dark Souls the grim and depressing world we know. DS1 and 3 has a beautyfully frightening apocalyptic and hopeless world and the monsters feel like a vital component to it. DS2 enemy designers could only shine as long as they had to make knights, zombies and dragons. Whenever they had to make something unique it ended up like these hedgehogs, feeling more fit into some saturday cartoon with their goofy looks, just like the big mammoth fellas, the dinousaurs with braces in Shulva, the cyclops hippos, the big ogres with the greathammers and many more.

These f*****r on ng+7 and above is no joke especially if they come as a gank squad. F***ing **** definitely one of the most annoying enemies in this game. Btw ive had enough and decided to do an experiment finding what work best against them and of course it was definitely a spear (mine is lighting heide knight spear cause highest damage) and dex bow (hunter or bow of want) work so so much against them and its so damn satisfying.

Another one of those enemies where trying to hit it with a thrusting weapon only works half the time

It is always dumb when an enemy can hurt you just by touching it.

Hunter's Blackbow +10 with Fire Arrows takes them out in 1-2 shots, depending on your dexterity

I wouldn't mind these enemies if I didn't take damage by touching them.

I wouldn't mind these guys so much if you didn't take damage from the spikes just by standing near them, even in *front* of them. That's just silly.

Fromsoft: ...you'll love these guys even more then bonewheels.

I just run past through them... bu that's what Sonic would do, no?

Shh... do you hear that? That sounds like you need to GIT GUD and kill them by poking them twice with a +10 rapier or +10 mace. I beat sharron with +6 mace in iron keep at SL 56. These guys are clearly easier.

These are the stupidest designed enemies in this game. Worse than the bone skeletons, at least those guys looked interesting. These are literally some deviantart idea of a "demon hedgehog"

NG++ they are stronger than bosses. If you take a direct hit, you'll die because you can't control. Especially the red ones!

The philosophy of the souls game is that any damage can be avoided No matter the build . These *****ers? These arent part of that philosophy.

Spooky scary hedgehogs send shiver down your spine shrieking spikes will drain your hp and seal your doom tonight

These are literally the worst designed enemies in all of dark souls. They're not a fun challenge like other hard enemies, they're just annoying and punish you for playing any way but ranged.
